Articulated Forklift FAQ's
What is an articulated forklift?
Ideal for narrow spaces, articulated forklifts have two sections; the front lifting section and the rear, where you’ll find the operator. The front section of an articulated forklift rotates independently of the rear, allowing the operator to access pallets from the side. This means the body of the truck doesn’t need to rotate and can, therefore, operate in areas with limited space for turning.
What are the advantages?
The ability of articulated forklifts to work in narrow aisles, is their defining feature. With the design enabling them to have a much smaller turning circle, you can reduce the aisle width within your warehouses and free up space for further racks and shelving. Aisles can be designed down to 1.6 metres wide and lift heights can be as high as 14 metres with a Flexi Forklift.
What's the difference?
Reach trucks and articulated forklifts are both designed for narrow-aisle facilities. While reach trucks use an extending mast to access products, articulated forklifts feature a pivoting front section to reach pallets. Articulated models excel in fast-paced environments, whereas reach trucks are best suited for loading and unloading tasks.
