Reach Truck
Reach Truck FAQ's
What is a reach forklift?
Reach forklifts are a type of right-angle stacking truck, compact and designed to handle materials in limited space. Unlike typical front-facing trucks, reach forklifts are usually sideways-facing and provide operators with a wider range of vision. The drive wheel of a reach forklift truck is located beneath the operator, meaning they have a tighter turn radius, ideal for narrow aisles.
Are reach trucks difficult to operate?
Because of their lift capabilities and unique handling requirements, operating a reach forklift does require specialist training. With proper practice, these trucks can be extremely easy to use and manoeuvrable. What's the difference between them?
A cherry picker, also known as an order picker, moves the operator through the air alongside the load. This enables them to manually pick a customer’s order from shelves or racking. When using a reach forklift, the operator remains at ground level and only the load moves vertically.
