The job of an order picker is to make your life easier by helping the operator. They raise the operator into the air and they manually pick an order from the rack. The operator of a reach truck stays in the cab of the machine and moves the load.
An order picker is found in a large array of warehouses throughout the manufacturing space including in ecommerce and production sites. Stacatruc offers a diverse range of order pickers and forklifts to assist with order picking. Our order pickers are designed with comfort and safety in mind.
The main difference between a usual forklift and an order picker is their function. Order pickers are used to move individual orders and help with retrieving items from racks or shelves. Forklifts, on the other hand, are used to move bulk loads around your facility.
The position of the operator also differs between the two. In a forklift, your employee will remain in the cab at ground level. In an order picker, they will move up and down with the load; a safer option than a ladder.
Order pickers are also much more manoeuvrable than some forklifts, making them more suitable for a space with narrow aisles. However, there are different models of forklifts that may also be suitable, so choosing the right one for your facility is important.
